Mr. Beal has spent nearly six decades challenging pot laws and is a fixture of New York’s graying counterculture, famous for handing out joints at rallies.

Starting last year, profitability became a more consistent story for the largest online grocery marketplace in North America, with millions of monthly active orderers and Instacart+ members. The company says it has now delivered over one billion orders across its 85,000-store network encompassing 1,500 retail partners. "There were a lot of questions about whether Instacart would be just another pandemic fad," CEO Fidji Simo told CNBC . Simo, who took the top role at the company in 2021 and launched the Instacart Health delivery service in 2022, has made health care a personal passion. "Patients often go through years-long diagnostic odysseys, bouncing around from specialist to specialist with no one looking at the whole picture," Simo wrote on her LinkedIn.

After months of congressional hand-wringing, Mr. Santos finally met his demise on Friday, after Republicans and Democrats each offered separate expulsion resolutions. The resulting debate on the House floor on Thursday captured the absurdity and unseemliness of Mr. Santos’s scandals. Mr. Santos is only the sixth member of the House to be expelled in the body’s history. Mr. Santos must still contend with the federal indictment in which prosecutors have accused him of multiple criminal schemes. (That company, Harbor City Capital, has been accused of operating a Ponzi scheme by the Securities and Exchange Commission, though Mr. Santos has not been implicated.)

☆ Honda recall 2023: Engine concerns impact Pilot, Ridgeline, Odyssey, Acura and other models

CNN —Honda is recalling almost 250,000 vehicles due to a manufacturing error that may damage the engine. 2018 and 2019 Honda Odysseys, 2016, 2018 and 2019 Pilots, and Ridgelines manufactured between 2017 and 2019 are also potentially affected. This recall brings the number of Honda vehicles recalled in 2023 up to more than three million. Honda said owners will be notified by letter in early January, and that dealers will inspect, repair and replace the engines for free. Vehicle owners can find out if their car is included in the recall by visiting www.recalls.acura.com or www.recalls.honda.com.
